Death Penalty - For or Against?

The death penalty is always a hot bed of controversy. I’ve never really understood the reasoning behind being in favor of it. Especially by those who want the killer of a loved one to be sentenced to death. If my loved one was murdered and the murderer was sentenced to death - I’d feel ripped off. A few years in a cell followed by escaping through death vs. confined to a cell every single day for the rest of their natural life…
For me the harsher punishment seems obvious.
What do you think?

This one is tough for me. I could go either way. On one hand I would fear the possibility that the police got the wrong guy. On the other hand why should we pay to food and house a scumbag who kills people? If it was my loved one I think it might be more clear to me. Unlike my answer to you right here. HA!
I agree.
No doubt life in prison is the tougher sentence of the two, if the goal is punishment.
It costs a lot more to execute someone (because of all the extra lawyering) than it does just to lock their ass up. If there were no lawyers and execution was immediate, sure it’d be cheaper. But then they’d get it wrong one time in ten and nobody would accept the errors. They’ve found some of these guys were innocent through DNA, etc., VERY close to their execution date.
